Canadian Proof of Citizenship
Canadian Proof of Citizenship
Children of Canadian citizens born in Canada may apply for proof of citizenship at any age provided they were the first-generation born abroad to a Canadian citizen.
For example, a foreign citizen born to a Canadian citizen, who themselves was also born abroad and also acquired Canadian citizenship through their parents, is typically not eligible for Canadian citizenship through their parents as the second-generation born abroad.
Adopted children of Canadian citizens are eligible for Canadian citizenship but the two-step process takes longer and involves more steps than those who are biological children of Canadian citizens.
